Some Politicians are proposing the elimination of the Internal
Revenue Service ( IRS ) thereby eliminating all of the types of
Taxes that they collect at the Individual and Corporation levels.
They want to change the Federal Tax System to one that is
based on a NEW Federal Consumption-Tax ( Sales-Tax ).

The State of Ohio Tax Commissioner ( William Wilkins ), as well as
the Communications Director of the Ohio Department of Taxation
( Gary Gudmandson ) are confused why Ohio Consumers are not
voluntarily reporting ( and paying ) their Ohio Use-Tax on their
Ohio Income-Tax Returns when they make out-of-state purchases.

Dah, perhaps the Ohio Consumer doesn't want to pay it and they
know the Ohio Department of Taxation is totally impotent in
enforcing that Ohio law.

While they continue to try and find ways to fix the problem, they
don't seem to realize the following is probably true:
1.)  10,000 State of Ohio Employees make out-of-state purchases,
without paying their Ohio Use-Tax !
2.)  26,200 members of the Ohio Education Association (OEA) make
    out-of-state purchases, without paying their Ohio Use-Tax !
3.)  30,000 employees of County and City Governments make
    out-of-state purchases, without paying their Ohio Use-Tax !
4.)  10,000 Attorneys and Lawyers (within Ohio) make out-of-state
   purchases, without paying their Ohio Use-Tax !
5.)  15,000 Ohio Accountants/CPA's (and their employees) make
     out-of-state purchases, without paying their Ohio Use-Tax !
6.)  5,000 Federal employees in Ohio make out-of-state
   purchases, without paying their Ohio Use-Tax !

The NEW 126th Ohio General Assembly - STACKING THE DECK!
Governor Taft and the Legislative Leaders are going continue
to raise your taxes, while expanding the unfairness of the
State of Ohio Tax-Code, in the name of "Tax-Reform".   Ohio126
President Bush is being wrongfully blamed for Ohio's problems !
The Tax-Relief from Washington DC to you, was taken away from
you, by the Ohio State Legislators in the form of Higher Taxation,
both at the State and Local levels.
The real Ohio problem is in Columbus and it is getting worse: OHIO

A FEDERAL COURT RULING (09/02/2004) FOUND THAT THE
STATE OF OHIO use of INVESTMENT-TAX-CREDITS (often
used in Economic-Development) is "UNCONSTITUTIONAL".
This may force The State of Ohio to address true TAX-REFORM
especially if this is expanded to all other Tax Incentives often
used in so called "Job-Creation" GIMMICKS which indirectly
causes most other Ohio Taxpayers Tax-Rates to be higher than

Why the Multistate Tax Commission will not FIX the Sales/Use-Tax
collections for State Governments, and ANY SALES-TAX INCREASE
WOULD ONLY ENCOURAGE CONSUMERS TO SHOP MORE
"OUT-OF-STATE" TO SAVE THE TAX.  Letter of  02/18/03 - URGENT
Not only would Sales/Use-Tax collection be required for the
Larger Remote-Sellers, they will also be subject to INCOME-TAXES!

Who is the REAL "ANTI-TAX" Group in Ohio?
It is the same Governor and Ohio Legislators who are expanding
"tax abatements" and "tax-credits" in the name of "Job-Creation"
while increasing your taxes (both Sales-Tax and Property-Taxes)
because THEY don't want to share in the burden of collecting
Ohio's needed tax revenues.  They talk of Good "Tax-Reform"
but their actions are exactly the opposite.  If you are currently
employed in Ohio, this continued abuse (in the name of Economic
Development) may cause you to lose your job, in order to create
a job for someone else.  It is not Washington DC making Ohio
unstable - - it's Columbus, Ohio!     Much more coming soon.

   make Amateur Radio Equipment and Accessories, when sold to
   a Licensed Amateur Radio Operator, EXEMPT FROM ALL SALES
   AND USE TAXES.  We are working with the Ohio Taxation Officials,
   as well as, all of the State of Ohio Representatives and Senators.
   We are further asking that, Sales and Use Taxes be eliminated. for
   most consumer items, especially those items that are available
   via the Mail-Order and Internet.  Look for any news on this page.

SUBJECT: I'M ON YOUR SIDE !

Recently, I became aware that a number of my customers, and non-customers,
in the Northeast area of Ohio, have felt, that my position, with respect to the
operation, of Northern Ohio Amateur Radio Depot, is, that I feel that they
are not supporting the local store, because of their unwillingness to pay
the State of Ohio Sales-Tax. Many Amateur Radio Operators, as well as,
many consumers (in general), simply only want, TO GET THE BEST DEAL.

That best deal is, the total price, you have to take out of your pocket, in
order for you to obtain the item, that you want.

I do not, repeat, I DO NOT, fault anyone from trying to obtain the best
deal that they can. My objection, is, that I should, also be able to compete,
on a fair basis, without the State of Ohio, imposing additional cost to you,
my customer, for wanting to support my store. That is exactly what the
State of Ohio HAS NOT DONE, and, it appears, that they think, that's OK!

My position is the following concerning Sales-Tax: THERE SHOULD BE
NO SALES-TAX, PERIOD. I do not desire, to be the unpaid, tax collector,
that the State of Ohio, has created. I stress the fact, that the State of
Ohio, is not irresponsible, in its own enforcement, of the Use-Tax, that the
Ohio consumers, are not paying, and will not pay, for one reason, and one
reason only.

That reason, is the fact that the State of Ohio, passed the Sales and Use
Tax Laws (in 1936) at the same time. The State of Ohio, has not done
anything, to insure, that the Use-Tax could be enforced, in order that the
Sales-Tax, was not a factor, in determining comparison shopping. The
Use-Tax Law was passed at the same time as the Sales-Tax Law for two
reasons. 1,) To protect the loss of State of Ohio Revenues, and 2.) To
protect the Ohio retail business, from an unfair disadvantage, with out-
of-state retailers, caused by the start of the Sales-Tax.

The State of Ohio has ignored the problem. The State of Ohio, is, and is
the only one, to blame, for the Sales and Use Taxes being a factor, in
determining the total cost, to the Ohio consumers.

My argument is with the State of Ohio, not my customers. The State of
Ohio: 1.) Created the problem, 2.) Ignored the problem, 3.) Pretends
that it is not a problem, 4.) Wants Washington DC to fix a problem that
it created, and, 5.) Doesn't know what to do about the problem.

I am not going to be the one, that will think less of you, for using the
Internet or Mail-Order, in order for you, to benefit, because of the lower
total cost, that you get when you utilize those means. I'm only upset,
that it is the State of Ohio, that prevents me from also being competitive,
because of their 1936 Laws, that they themselves cannot enforce. If they
cannot enforce those laws, then those laws should not exist. It is those
laws which have taken away, unfairly, my chance of an equal opportunity
to serve you, as your local retailer.

AGAIN, ALL STATE OF OHIO SALES-TAXES, AND USE-TAXES, INCLUDING
THE PIGGY-BACK SALES-TAXES OF ALL COUNTIES, SHOULD BE REPEALED,
FOR ALL CONSUMER TANGIBLE PERSONAL PROPERTY. THEN, AND ONLY
THEN, CAN YOU REALLY HAVE FAIR COMPARISON SHOPPING WITH YOUR
LOCAL STORES, MAIL-ORDER and the INTERNET.

I am going to continue to fight, for fair taxation. My fight is with the State
of Ohio, not you. But, please understand, it wasn't me who invented the
sales-tax in 1936, and, it wasn't me, who continued to increase it, to the
point that it is today. Everyone feels they are paying too many taxes now,
and, want to pay less taxes. Everyone feels that the Government, is too
big, as well. I would like to see, the State of Ohio, have the guts to bring
itself, into the year 2001 by eliminating both the sales and use taxes, and
reduce our State Budget needs, by eliminating those employees, and the
equipment/space needs of that department.

What good is that State of Ohio Sales/Use-Tax Department, if it increases
your cost locally, and, at the same time, unfairly, keeps the local retail store
non-competitive, all because they cannot do their job, as Ohio law dictates.
